As reported by several media outlets Sunday morning, a fight had escalated into a fatal shooting in the shadow of Cowboys Stadium, outside of Arlington's Skybox Sports Club in earlier hours. After determining retaliatory violence was possible, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) investigators issued a summary suspension of Skybox's Mixed Beverage Permit. It will last for seven days, allowing law enforcement to conduct further investigations and, hopefully, catch the shooter.
Despite Yelp reviewers' claims that Skybox is an "upscale" venue with bottle service and ace waitstaff, the incident and subsequent suspension no doubt put a damper on the club itself, as well as the (wealthy) family draw of neighbor JerryWorld and nearby Rangers Ballpark.
An effort was made to contact Skybox GM Jeremy Cutlip but as of yet, Eater Dallas has received no response.
From the Official TABC Press Release:
"Any breach or act of violence occurring at a licensed location is reviewed, not only to evaluate the management of the location, but also to assure the safety of the public and employees at the location," stated Lieutenant Gene Anderson, TABC Arlington District Supervisor. "In this particular case (Sky Box Sports Club), a seven-day suspension was imposed, as Investigators determined that subsequent acts of violence very likely would occur if the club was allowed to continue to operate immediately following the shooting. Ultimately the safety of the public is our top priority."
