A rather diverse all-star investment team is bringing a new hot dog chain to Dallas. Led by a former Dallas Mavericks president, the group backing Hofmann Hots also includes competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi, Dallas Cowboys legend Roger Staubach, mega-restaurateur Phil Romano, and a casino-owning American Indian tribe. The team hopes to transform a Syracuse, New York-based sausage company (Hofmann Sausage Co., which they purchased back in May) into a national fast food brand with 50 locations, with the first four being located in DFW; the first is slated to open sometime in October. The company's hot dogs are already being sold in over 200 Albertsons and Brookshire's stores across the state.
Hofmann has also just released its first commercial starring Kobayashi, in which he sports a snazzy scarf and eats a hot dog while brushing his teeth.
