Local restauranteur of note Tristan Simon, whose Consilient Restaurants group includes a number of Henderson Avenue staples, closed his new Mex-Mex restaurant Alma suddenly on Saturday night. Just that morning, the restaurant was inviting folks to come watch the TX/OU unmitigated disaster game with a slice of their "Alma Toast," but within a couple of shifts, Chef Anastacia Quinones' kitchen was no more. Indeed, Alma saw two chefs at its helm even though it opened and closed in just nine months.
Both Pegasus News and SideDish ran the story on Sunday. Simon told Nancy Nichols that he closed Alma "take advantage of another opportunity for the property." He went on:
While it’s a straightforward business decision for the company, we feel a real sadness about closing Alma and deeply appreciate the customers, vendors and staff who supported the restaurant during its life.Or perhaps the locale is cursed, and none can stand in the hallowed footprint of Cuba Libre?
