A dude from Watauga was arrested on Friday, suspected of committing more than 30 burglaries of fast food joints, mainly Subway sandwich shops. Rodney James Ricketts was caught almost red-handed by cops responding to a Bedford Subway's alarm: they nabbed him carrying a bag of "burglary tools." From the Star-Telegram:
One of the first officers on the scene in Bedford on Friday reported that he could see a light in the closed business and could hear what he believed was a drill, according to Bedford police reports. Within minutes, Ricketts walked out of the business with a bag that contained what police said were burglary tools. A burglar has hit fast-food restaurants in 12 North Texas cities since January: Bedford, Colleyville, Grapevine, Denton, Arlington, Irving, Coppell, Plano, McKinney, Allen, Carrollton and Richardson.Police told the Star-Telegram that Ricketts would head "straight for the safes" once inside a restaurant. If indeed Ricketts is the culprit, he's certainly had a busy year--that's three fresh-baked burglaries a month.
