Those of you wondering what Chef Scott Romano's been up to lately (besides getting hitched) since he left Charlie Palmer at the Joule back in October, wonder no more: he's spending at least a little bit of his time classing up the soon-to-open breastaurantish Spread Eagle Saloon downtown. Saloon owner Scott Scripps tells us this afternoon that while Romano won't be doing the everyday cooking, he's "come up with a great menu for us."
Scripps says Romano's menu is "pub-friendly fare," mostly sandwiches and the like. But he also gets specific: look for "Pork Belly Stuffed Jalapenos with a Shiner Bock glaze," "Goat Cheese Fritters" and a meatloaf sandwich ("The Loaf") with pickled shallots. He says he hopes to have Saloon doors open "this year."
