When West Dallas' best patio, Jack's Backyard, announced on June 26 that it was closing that same day, the bar was swamped with regulars and rumors. As of today, however, we can stop wondering what happened to the LGBTQ scene favorite: credit problems, reports SideDish. Owner Kathy Jack sent out a statement today, which reads in part:
"I developed a plan with the head of the creditors’ committee to repay our back debts and start repaying investors but ultimately, we were not given that opportunity."
After opening on Halloween '08 in mostly industrial West Dallas, Jack's became a go-to spot for thirsty area residents. But SideDish commenters, even those who loved the place, say the bar wasn't perfect, even if it was easily the best the neighborhood had to offer. Complaints: Dallas loves its valet parking, but the valet set-up at Jack's in a commercial wasteland was pretty silly, and the bar food was probably too upscale for the young Backyard crowd. Kathy Jack's statement does say that she's "adamant about making things right," so we're still holding out hope for a Jack's redux.
