Who's Outfitting Their House With Texas-Related Ephemera From Lockhart Smokehouse?

Welcome to Eater's latest feature, Shit People Steal, in which we ask restaurateurs what items in their restaurant have been (or are frequently) stolen.lockharttowelholders.jpg[Photos: Courtesy Jeff Bergus]

Oak Cliff's Lockhart Smokehouse may have waffled on the barbecue sauce issue, but they know one thing for sure: y'all need to quit taking their awesome Texas decor for use in your own homes. Paper towel holders, really guys? Co-owner Jill Bergus tells us:

"I guess in Texas, people just go nuts over Longhorn stuff. Our only hope is that they may have injured someone while making a getaway with them, they aren't light!"
But that's not the worst of it. No, the worst was the irreplaceable bit of Texas ephemera that someone stuffed down his pants to get out of the restaurant.

lockhartlionsbanner.jpgThis, friends, is a Lockhart Lions banner that cannot be replaced. It was in the bathroom. The men's bathroom. Says Bergus:

"This was nailed up in the men's bathroom. So someone must have stuffed it in their shirts or pants. We heard there may have been a bounty on it. The sad thing is, they don't make or sell them in Lockhart anymore!"
