There's a new Master Pizzaiolo in town, and his name is Dino Santonicola. The chef from Naples, Italy just started at Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum yesterday. Buddies with Cane Rosso owner Jay Jerrier for years, Santonicola is bringing his expertise to Dallas as the restaurant's executive chef. Per a press release, Santonicola's definitely got street cred:
At age thirteen, Santonicola started working at a pizzeria down the street from his house in the Spanish Quarter of Naples Italy, cultivating his love for food at a young age. Since then he has worked in many pizzerias in Naples, including the renowned Fiorenzano Pizzeria and Brandi, birthplace of the Pizza Margherita. This will be Santonicola's third official stop in the United States making pies. He was first recruited to Seattle in 2004 to launch Via Tribunali, then moved to Washington, D.C. for Pizzeria da Marco. Now, he'll be the pizza king of Commerce Street.
