Two Neighborhood Favorites Close Their Doors

Two long-time neighborhood favorites, Tramontana up in North Dallas and the Lakewood Bar and Grill over at Gaston Avenue and Abrams Parkway plan to close and have closed, respectively. The twelve-year-old Tramontana bistro, headed by Chef James Neel, will not be renewing its lease according to Nancy Nichols over at SideDish, who received this e-mail from Neel, sent out to customers:

Thank you to all my loyal customers and now friends who have made the last 12 years at Tramontana, the best of my life. The end of my lease is here and I have decided not to renew and given the recent economic downturn, I have closed Tramontana. Let’s vow to continue to enjoy great food and wine and support our local chef owned restaurants. I hope to cook for you again as I will continue cooking in the Dallas area.
Death was less peaceful for patrons of the Lakewood Bar and Grill, which closed abruptly yesterday after an 18-year run.

They were locked out, it seems, for non-payment of rent, according to Teresa Gubbins over at Pegasus News. The bar management posted this message on Facebook:

"I am sad to say that after 18 years of serving the Lakewood area the LBG is closed! Thank you to all the bands that played and for all the customers that patronized us. To all the bands that are booked I appologize for the last-minute notice."
