Snack is Closed, Will Reopen as New Concept

Chefs Avner Samuel and Jon Stevens have temporarily shuttered their newest restaurant Snack on Henderson Avenue to rework the concept. The restaurant suffered poor reviews from diners and critics alike (citing mediocre food, miniscule portions and poor service) since its opening back in May, so the closing comes as no surprise—as recently as a few weeks ago the restaurant sent a blast to its email list announcing new management and a 'new attitude', plus a fully redesigned menu and a discount to customers who would give them another shot.

None of the previous tenants at 2323 Henderson Avenue have fared well in that spot—Horne & Dekker closed back in January after just over a year in business, and was preluded by Urbino and Pulcinella, neither of which were long for this world—but Samuel doesn't blame the location for Snack's failing, telling CultureMap that the concept "was maybe too adventurous for the area and maybe for the city."
