Klyde Warren Park, the five-acre urban green space constructed over Woodall Rogers Freeway downtown, will celebrate its grand opening in just under two weeks, and more details are coming to light on upcoming restaurants that will open at the park.
Previously announced was Lark on the Park, a concept by Meddlesome Moth owner Shannon Wynne; Wynne hasn't said much about the project, other than the fact that it will feature "non-cute food"; that is, "no mac and cheese or mama's fried chicken," and will open in December or early 2013 at 2000 McKinney Avenue. (New Moth chef David McMillan is rumored to be assisting Wynne on the project.)
Also just announced is a burger concept, Relish, that will start life as a food truck but evolve into a permanent park fixture, and Savor, a 320-seat gastropub that will feature floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The Relish truck should be running later this month or next, while Savor is still at least six months out. Heading up these projects is John Coleman, former chef at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas, and John Muse (business partner of mega-billionaire Tom Hicks and owner of the third most expensive home in the city, according to D Magazine).
The park's grand opening events will be held the weekend of October 27 and 28.
