There's another new bar coming to East Dallas. The Lot is slated to open in the old Backyard Beach Bar space on East Grand Avenue early next year, and some notable Dallas folks are collaborating on the project: Managing partner John McBride hails from the El Fenix family, Sharon Hage of the dearly beloved and departed York Street is doing the menu, and the designer responsible for Tei-An's Zen-like interior, Hatsumi Kuzuu, is making over the space.
The space, which in its previous life as Backyard Beach Bar featured a sand volleyball court, swimming pool and a massive patio, is undergoing a major overhaul; the plan is to create a space with a "cozy, lived-in feel" that will be kid-friendly and feature a stage for musical acts, and possibly a bridge to connect it to the nearby Santa Fe Trail.
Sounds like The Lot could be East Dallas' answer to Oak Cliff's Chicken Scratch.
