Fort Worth celebuchef/Top Chef judge/Hellman's mayonnaise and Sur La Table spatula hawker Tim Love is flipping his last quail egg-topped burger at the Denton Love Shack location today; he plans to open a new, as-of-yet-unannounced concept in the space just east of Denton's Square next year. Love Shack is now down to just one location, the original outpost in the Fort Worth Stockyards; a second location at the So7 development near Trinity Park shuttered back in May. UPDATE: DFW.com's Bud Kennedy reports that the new concept going into the Love Shack space will be a high-end steakhouse.
Meanwhile, his new Texas Christian University-based food truck, aptly named the Big Purple Truck, celebrated its grand opening on Thursday by handing out free food like brisket-stuffed bacon-wrapped jalapenos and other hyper-Texan fare that diners have come to expect from Chef Love. The truck has been feeding TCU students and faculty since the start of the fall semester.
