That recurring fantasy you have about riding out the Dallas winter on the beach can now become a reality. Sort of. Sandbar Cantina, the bar-slash-beach volleyball court on 2nd Avenue between Deep Ellum and Expo Park, is stepping up its game for the impending cold weather season. They've brought in a couple chefs, installed some firepits to keep bargoers toasty warm, added a draft beer system, and expanded its entertainment offerings with a massive projector screen, DIY s'mores kits, dodgeball, and a menu they're calling "Texas beach fusion" with tacos, kabobs, salads and burgers.
Between Sandbar, Katy Trail Ice House, Chicken Scratch, and The Lot, which will open in the old Backyard Beach Bar space in East Dallas early next year, Dallas dwellers certainly have no shortage of wide open spaces to get their drink on.
