Cocktail powerhouse Eddie "Lucky" Campbell is no longer tending bar at The Chesterfield. An industry insider revealed to Eater that Campbell had departed the downtown cocktail den, and a call to the bar confirmed: A Chesterfield staffer says Campbell "is no longer working here", as of sometime last week.
Drama arose several months ago when majority owner Ed Bailey tried to have partner Campbell removed from the premises after apparent disagreement on how to run the bar, but the conflict seemed to be resolved= soon after and things have been fairly quiet at The Chesterfield since.
Where will Campbell land next, and will The Chesterfield survive without its creator and head drink slinger? (For now, the bar's website still bears a picture of Campbell and cites his partnership with Bailey.) UPDATE: Bailey is looking to get out of the bar business, and hopes to sell the bar to Campbell, who is still a partner.
