Outpost American Tavern to Open in Old CampO Space

Outpost American Tavern is slated to open in the old CampO space in North Oak Cliff in mid-December. Partners John Paul Valverde and Miguel Vicens shuttered CampO, whose kitchen was originally headed by Matt McCallister, back in September with plans to turn it into a less formal, more approachable spot.

The partners, who make up design firm Coeval Studio, have completely made over the restaurant's interior, and say they won't be bringing in a big-name chef this time around. (From the way Valverde describes Outpost's menu—lots of small plates, "quality food and good cocktails", nothing over $14—it sounds suspiciously like a gastropub.)
