In anticipation of its Monday, February 27, opening, Sissy's Southern Kitchen and Bar hosted a media taste-and-tour of it's brand new Henderson Avenue digs in the former Hector's On Henderson space.
Former Next Food Network Star contestant Lisa Garza and chef Jeffery Hobbs were in attendance yesterday, along with their stylishly attired waitstaff, slinging the specialty fried chicken and other old-home dishes like corn fritters and uh, caviar deviled eggs. On that previous frittery fried note, Garza says Sissy's is a departure from her near two decades in fine dining. As if the vodka tea bar didn't tip you off, the inspiration comes from her Southern upbringing and roots in Memphis.
And the Southern flair continues into the decor: Kuzuu Design went after a comfortable colonial vibe with a chic twist, pairing salvaged Henry Potter fixtures with Spode Delamere China. Vintage elements decorate all three areas -- the main dining room, a climate controlled sun porch and a private parlor.
Sissy's Southern Kitchen and Bar hours will be 5 p.m. to midnight Mondays through Wednesdays, and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. A rare thing for Dallas -- reservations are accepted, and recommended.
