Chef David Anthony Temple To Leave Mason Bar

Oh, how quickly things change.

Earlier today, CraveDFW's Steven Doyle reported that February 29 will be David Anthony Temple's last shift at Mason Bar, open for less than one month. The bar will still serve food, but without Temple -- and apparently without chef de cuisine Cable Smith at some point in the near future -- there will be a "lesser focus" on the vittles.

Eater contacted Mason Bar's India Bounds regarding the news. Bounds responded with an official statement:

The Mason Bar and Chef David Temple announce the completion of his duties as opening chef at State Thomas’ newest restaurant and bar in order to direct his focus back on his Underground Dinners enterprise. The Mason Bar’s menu and service team will continue to reflect the original vision for exceptional food and commitment to great bar service for the State Thomas neighborhood and the rest of the Dallas Metroplex.
She also added, "Everyone here wishes David and Cable the best as they move forward with what I'm sure will be long and successful careers. We really enjoyed our time working with them." Bounds did not provide a departure date for Smith.
