Today the James Beard Foundation announced, via live stream, among other methods, the finalists for the 2012 James Beard Awards -- which include awards for books, media, design and many other categories as well as regional chefs.
Semifinalists were announced back in February, and chef winners will be announced May 7, but for right now we're focused on our Dallas-based finalist: Bruno Davaillon of Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Davaillon is nominated for Best Chef: Southwest along with San Antonio's Bruce Auden of Biga on the Banks, Austin's Paul Qui of Uchiko, Cave Creek, AZ's Kevin Binkley of Binkley's Restaurant, and Denver's Jennifer Jasinski of Rioja. You guys, look at that: Texas is so awesome.
