The Culinary Institute of America will honor chef Dean Fearing at the 2012 Leadership Awards Gala on March 29 in New York. Fearing will be honored alongside Larry Forgione, Paul Prudhomme, Alice Waters and Wolfgang Puck, the latter of which also has Dallas ties via his very tall, rotating Five Sixty restaurant.
Fearing will be honored for his work as a "Pioneer of American Cuisine" at the gala event, which serves as the CIA's annual scholarship fundraiser. Regarding the event, CIA alumnus Fearing says, "I am thrilled and so grateful to be selected for this amazing award and, especially, to be included alongside names like Alice Waters, Wolfgang Puck, Paul Prudhomme and Larry Forgione." He also gives props to his former stomping grounds: "I benefited tremendously from the education I received at CIA, and I hope that many aspiring young chefs will benefit from the scholarship funds to be raised on this upcoming evening."
But neither the fun nor the spiky hair stops in NYC. According to the official press release, from April 2 to 6, Fearing will set up shop -- a recreation of Fearing's, actually -- inside Towers Grill at The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo as part of its fifth anniversary celebration.
