When a tipster informed Eater Dallas that McCormick & Schmick's NorthPark had just called to cancel their reservation, saying the location would now be closed, it wasn't entirely surprising. As The Dallas Socials noted, the chain had also recently closed its West Palm Beach location. The NorthPark doors locked officially at 9 p.m. Tuesday.

But the closings didn't make the first time McCormick & Schmick's has been the talk. As reported by Dallas Business Journal, last November, the board of McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants Inc. was investigated by nine law firms—three from Dallas—when the company sold for much less than the buyer, Landry's Restaurant's Inc., first offered. $5.6 million less.

In response to an Eater Dallas inquiry about the closing, Kris Guthrie, VP of Marketing for Landry's, Inc., sent this statement, via email:

“The Dallas location has been under evaluation since the acquisition and we have made a strategic decision to close the restaurant. Employees impacted by the closing were encouraged to consider opportunities at other Landry's concepts in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.”

Guthrie, however, offered no response to an additional inquiry whether the legal investigations had any bearing on McCormick & Schmick closures.
