First, El Fenix announced it was expanding beyond Dallas-Fort Worth and into Wichita Falls. Come June, the enchiladas will be OK — moving into Oklahoma, that is.
The Winstar World Casino chose the Tex-Mex restaurant to occupy an 8,500-square-foot spot on the Winstar grounds in Thackerville, OK, according to an official press release sent today. There was no official word on any new themed Tex-Mex combos (suggestions: The Gambler, Full House, Bucket of Tokens), so diners will have to discover the menu when the restaurant opens in June.
The casino is making an easy bet on familiarity. Sherri Waters, chief of staff, Chickasaw Nation says, "It's the perfect fit for our guests, as most of them commute from the Dallas-area."
"Because The Winstar is so popular with Dallasites, a lot of their guests will already be El Fenix fans," agrees Mike Karns, president and CEO of El Fenix. "But this will also allow us to reach an entirely new group of customers, and we look forward to becoming a valuable member of the Winstar and greater Oklahoma community."
No matter where diners are from, they're sure to find that nothing makes them feel more alive than an enchilada dinner right before the early curtain call for a Darius Rucker performance or after playing nickel slots for seven hours straight.
