What Happens When Pizzas Are Just $1?

Yesterday, Jay Jerrier and the staff of Cane Rosso offered $1 pizzas (three varieties) between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. No, not because they're completely insane (maybe a little), but to celebrate reaching 5000 likes on Facebook.

The crowds responded. Before opening at 6, Jerrier says there were "50 or so people in line" (photo to prove it at right). He also reports that of the 260 pizzas Cane Rosso sold during the hours of the promotion, 201 were dollar pizzas. Beer and wine sales saw an increase.

With a promotion like this, there's usually one major problem: Did patrons remember to tip on the full price of the pizzas? Jerrier offers: "Most people were cool?though I think you always get a few that don't understand the math."

As for 10,000 likes on Facebook: If they reach the mark, best get those dollars ready.
