Aside from being one of the city's best kept secrets with an eclectic ambiance boasting everything from a critically acclaimed spicy corn dog to regular live music, weekly Texas Hold 'Em tournaments, an airplane hangar-sized patio and a massive game room, Bryan Street Tavern is like the Disney World of neighborhood dives. And, on Monday nights, it's a "small world" when BST shows big love to service industry workers with its newly instated "Bartenders Without Borders" program.
Each week, a guest bartender from an area bar serves up $3.00 You Call It drinks, and this week will feature Josh Campbell, formerly of The Slip Inn and Barcadia, and now of Capitol Pub. In addition, David Marrett of 3rd Wheel Marketing tells us that the Tavern has added a new chef to the roster to fill out its ever-expanding menu. (It's really "not just pizza anymore," as the website gleefully boasts.) Updates include a Philadelphia Cheese Steak, red bell pepper hummus, and (for brunch) the All-American Breakfast Pizza with bacon, Jimmy's mild sausage, cheddar cheese and eggs over easy. DJ 5-D is spinning vinyl tonight, and Marrett says, "We've really opened up to all service industry people. If you've got a face and have to deal with people, we're here for you."
