It's all about the hot dog right now, so it's the perfect time for Bowery to open.
The restaurant is the newest venture from Richard and Tiffanee Ellman (Oak) and John Paul Valverde (Campo Modern Country Bistro) and will focus on elevating the beloved handheld tubesteak. "With Bowery, we are seeking to appeal to all demographics - we believe Bowery will help us to remember that hot dogs are indeed the great American food," Tiffanee Ellman said. "The burger has been elevated and now we strive to do that with the dog."
With recipes spanning traditional to global, sausages will be handmade and grass-fed (where applicable, according to press materials), and buns will be baked daily. Shakes and malts will be a focus, as well as handcrafted cocktails.
Bowery will open next week in the space formerly occupied by Lumi Empanada and Dumpling Kitchen on McKinney Avenue. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
