Lakewood Brewing Company just announced a release party on Saturday, August 4, at Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House, celebrating the brewery's inaugural commercial brew. The party will kick off at 4 p.m. with the tapping of LBC's American Rye Wheat "Rock Ryder" and Belgian IPA "Hop Trapp." Also announced this morning, LBC has added Garland native and GABF Gold medal winner Jason Van Gilder to its brewing team. Van Gilder worked for Rahr & Songs, Grimm Brothers and, most recently, Oskar Blues before returning to Texas.
LBC becomes the third Dallas brewery to open within a year of Deep Ellum Brewing Company and Peticolas Brewing Company's respective debuts last fall. It joins established favorites Rahr & Sons Brewing Company and Franconia Brewing Company as North Texas' fifth local brewery within a decade.
