The Mecca Plans 1938 Prices; Portable Pizza

New, 1 comment

PRESTON HOLLOW—By now you have likely heard that The Mecca is moving from its long-standing home to a new location on Live Oak this month. But there is big fun on the agenda for the diner's August 12 closing. Scott Reitz tells us that owners are planning retro prices and are trying to dig up uniforms for waitstaff to mimic The Mecca's 1938 opening. Re-opening in East Dallas is set tentatively around August 17. [City of Ate]

HIGHLAND PARK VILLAGE—The restaurant formerly known as Marquee Grill hosted "Beaujolais legend" Georges Duboeuf last night and Andrew Chalk was really excited about it. [SideDish]

WEEK IN REVIEWSSteven Doyle tells us that Epic Cone lives up to its boastful name. Utilizing a trade show waffle cone maker, the Deep Ellum shop currently makes a pizza cone, a cheeseburger cone and a chocolate cheesecake cone -- really "anything works except soup" -- and that a pot roast cone is on its way this fall. Need a cone at home? The company delivers within a five mile radius. [Crave DFW]
