Developers behind the Skillman Live Oak Shopping Center have asked the city for permission to close down La Vista Drive between Like Oak and Skillman. The move would create outdoor spaces (read: margarita-sipping patios) for the center's upcoming tenants: Matt’s Rancho Martinez (coming any day now) and Mecca Restaurant (taking over the former Tipperary Inn). Meanwhile, neighbors worry closing off the block may eliminate 30 parking spots and hurt other nearby businesses. —Chad Jones [Advocate]
