6th Street: An "Austin-Style" Bar, Minus the Austin

Eater Austin picked up on the opening of new Uptown bar 6th Street, a supposed "Austin-style" bar trying to bring a bit of ATX to Dallas—except without all those pesky hippies and high-calorie cocktails and incessant live bands and stuff. (Because what Dallas definitely needs more of is places that are sort of like Austin, but really just more like Uptown.)

6th Street is located at Routh and Cedar Springs, right across the street from actual Austin import Kung-Fu Saloon, which opened last week. Forget those weekend road trips—now all the things about Austin that Dallasites yearn for (drunken college kid antics, Torchy's Tacos, the homeless problem, and soon, Hopdoddy Burger Bar) are conveniently available in our very own city. Imagine the savings on gas. (And kolache purchases.)
