Nick Badovinus' newest project Tried & True, the result of a summer-long makeover on the former Neighborhood Services Tavern spot on Henderson Avenue, will finally open its much-anticipated doors tonight at 6 p.m.
What to expect? Back in June, Badovinus described the new menu as "Very straightforward, slightly elevated working class stuff." "Girl next door type" waitresses will serve all-American fare like a charcuterie plate featuring various aged hams (no jamón ibérico or prosciutto here--we're talking Tennessee and Kentucky), French bread pizza, Memphis-style ribs, burgers, and a selection of tacos including a brisket version that will utilize the much-lauded 48 hour brisket a la Badovinus' popular Design District lunch spot Off-Site Kitchen. Booze-wise, there's a respectable bourbon selection and a few local brews on tap, plus $8 cocktails using spirits by Jason Kosmas. (Leslie Brenner provides the full menu here.) A late-night breakfast menu will launch soon.
