Guac 'N Roll at Urban Taco; A State Fair Alternative for The Vegan Crowd

OAK LAWN—The third annual Texas State Veggie State Fair will be held October 21 at Reverchon Park (a viable fair alternative for those with a moral objection to turkey legs). The event's organizers are looking for amateur chefs who want to pit their vegan State Fair-esque creations up against others' for a chance at $100 plus bragging rights. See the event website for details. [Eaterwire]

UPTOWN—Urban Taco is throwing a patio party to showcase their new mobile guacamole cart tonight. The guac is free, the margaritas are half-price, and the music is live on the patio starting at 6:30 p.m. [UrbanDaddy]

ARTS DISTRICT—One Arts Plaza is hosting its latest installment of Paws on the Plaza this Sunday from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. The area will be closed off for pedestrian traffic only and folks are encouraged to bring their pooches for patio brunching. (Paws in the City will be on hand for adoptions if you find yourself sadly dog-less.) [Eaterwire]
