Sunset Lounge, which reopened for business on Ross Avenue in early December with a freshly made-over interior and new ownership (the bar-slash-nightclub is now owned by FreeRange Concepts, who also owns the recently opened nouveau bowling alley Bowl & Barrel), is preparing to celebrate its grand opening on January 23. Via a press release, Sunset Lounge has announced they've installed none other than Eddie "Lucky" Campbell to head up the bar program.
Campbell made headlines last year when conflict arose at his former workplace, downtown cocktail den The Chesterfield; majority owner Ed Bailey of the former Bailey's steakhouse empire attempted to have Campbell removed from the premises after an apparent dispute, but was unable to do so since Campbell, a partner, was named on the lease. The two announced via email that their issues had been resolved, but Campbell quietly departed The Chesterfield sometime in November, and word surfaced that he was trying to purchase the bar from Bailey.
Sunset Lounge will celebrate its grand opening Wednesday, January 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. with $3 food and drinks. UPDATE: Mike Hiller reports that farm-to-table darling Sharon Hage is responsible for the food menu at Sunset Lounge.
