Austin's Getting a Shake Shack. Could Dallas Be Next?

Food-obsessed Austinites are pretty much freaking out right now after learning this morning that crazy-popular NYC burger stand Shake Shack is headed their way.

A press release issued this morning states, "Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) is proud to announce it will bring its first-ever restaurant to Texas when it opens Shake Shack in Austin in late 2014."

Shake Shack, which sprouted from a hot dog cart that blossomed into its flagship Madison Square Park location in 2004, has since expanded to more than 20 locations including Miami Beach, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Connecticut, London and even Dubai. Its burgers, hot dogs and "concretes" have won it a devoted following that means mighty long lines at peak hours; there's even a Shack Cam on its website so folks can check the status of the queue at the Madison Square Park location before heading over.

The Austin Shack will open in "late 2014" on South Lamar Boulevard. With Austin on the agenda, can burger-obsessed Dallas be far behind?
