Spoon & Stampede 66 Named in Esquire Mag's Best New Restaurants in America

One-time "Most Hated Chef in Dallas" John Tesar is most likely grinning ear-to-ear right now: His Preston Center baby, Spoon Bar & Kitchen, has just been named one of 2013's Best New Restaurants by manly rag Esquire, as was Stephan Pyles' ode to Texan cooking Stampede 66. Two restaurants out of 19 on the list from long-time critic John Mariani is quite an impressive showing for Dallas, a city that so often seems to get overlooked in favor of Austin and Houston on lists like these.

The South in general fared very well on Esquire's list, with Charleston's The Ordinary, Atlanta's King + Duke, Nashville's Rolf and Daughters, and Mariza in New Orleans also making the cut.
