While many people will probably be going on an all-turkey sandwich diet in the days following the impending Thanksgiving holiday, the leftover-haters amongst us may be interested to know that College Station export Grub Burger Bar will be flinging open its doors Friday on Greenville Avenue near University Boulevard (just around the corner from Central Market).
Fans of Austin-born Hopdoddy in Preston Center will probably notice some similarities between the two burger franchises: Grub grinds its meat (Angus chuck and brisket, according to its website) and bakes its buns in-house and offers a lineup of original burger creations — like the "Voodoo Mushroom" with absinthe-sauteed mushrooms, green onions, swiss cheese and Tabasco mayo — plus several non-beef options like a veggie burger with chickpeas and eggplant, an ahi tuna sandwich with wasabi-teriyaki mayo and a Greek chicken sandwich with feta and tzatziki. As far as sides go, regular fries are joined here by Shiner-battered onion rings and sweet potato fries with rosemary salt.
Also like Hopdoddy, there's an impressive bar selection — here it includes local craft beers from Revolver, Peticolas and more; draft cocktails including a jalapeno-mango lemonade with vodka; and several milkshake flavors from salted caramel to espresso-hazelnut as well as booze-spiked shakes, like one that's made with birthday cake-flavored vodka.
