The Snuffer's on Lower Greenville Will Remain a Snuffer's

The Snuffer's v. Snuffer saga continues: Snuffer's patriarch Pat Snuffer will not open his new venture Pat's Burger & Cheddar Fries on Lower Greenville as originally planned. Following a lawsuit and a subsequent out-of-court settlement, Snuffer has abandoned the plans for Pat's and turned over control of the building to Firebird Restaurant Group, which recently acquired the rest of the several Snuffer's locations around DFW.

A quick recap of the situation: Snuffer's filed for bankruptcy back in the spring, and a few months later Firebird Restaurant Group acquired its debt, thereby becoming its lender. In November it was announced that Firebird had purchased all the Snuffer's locations — except the OG Lower Greenville location, which has been under construction since the spring and was not a part of the original bankruptcy filing. That spot would remain under control by Pat Snuffer, who announced that he planned to turn it into a "new" concept called Pat's Burger & Cheddar Fries. Naturally, this didn't sit too well with Firebird, who filed suit against Snuffer claiming that the new concept was a "blatant rip-off" of the Snuffer's name and concept and would cause "massive confusion."

A judge issued a temporary restraining order to prevent Pat's from opening, and a hearing was set for later this month — but that has now been cancelled, as the opponents have reached a settlement out of court. Firebird's Mike Karns tells the Dallas Morning News that "the Lower Greenville Snuffer's will reopen in February, after construction's finished and the Pat's signs are removed and replaced."

But don't think you've seen the last of Pat Snuffer — he has big plans to forge ahead with a brand new concept. As DMN's Robert Wilonsky explains, "It's not clear what that new concept will be. But we know what it won't involve: burgers and cheese fries." Unless, of course, Snuffer wants to find himself back in court.
