Restaurateur Alberto Lombardi is shuttering his One Arts Plaza restaurant Cafe Des Artistes following dinner service on Saturday night. According to a press release, Lombardi "has decided on a new strategic direction for his company" that involves expanding his other concepts Toulouse and Taverna to Fort Worth, Austin, Southlake and beyond.
The release notes that the restaurant saw "acceptable" business, which sounds like a nice way of saying it failed to bring in the steady crowds that Lombardi's other concepts enjoy. (Morning News critic Leslie Brenner wasn't impressed, either, awarding the restaurant just one measly star in a February review.)
Of course, this raises the question of what will replace CdA — One Arts Plaza isn't exactly known for fabulous dining options, with the exception of Japanese standout Tei-An.
