Another week, another new restaurant opening at West Dallas mega-development Trinity Groves: Friday saw the debut of long-awaited Resto Gastro Bistro — try saying that five times fast, seriously — the first venture from front-of-house manager Linda Mazzei and chef DJ Quintanilla, who's done time in the kitchens at several well-known Dallas restaurants including Abacus, The Common Table, and Bijoux.
Resto promises a "modern American menu with French and Asian influences" — and what, exactly, does that translate to? A little bit of everything, including tempura shrimp lettuce wraps with black truffle aioli, a Caesar salad served in a roasted garlic crouton "box," honey and chili-cured beef filet with sour cream potato croquettes, and a deep-fried lobster tail "corn dog" (paging Leslie Brenner!) with lemon marmalade.
A cocktail menu designed by barman Eddie "Lucky" Campbell promises good things, including a shishito pepper-infused margarita with lychee cordial and the Paloma Tonka with tonka bean-infused tequila, grapefruit and cherry soda, plus a refreshing-sounding gin drink with coconut water and tarragon.
Stay tuned later this week for a closer look at Resto, or go check it out yourself: It's open for dinner Monday through Saturday, with lunch service slated to begin in January.
