Prepare for Korean Fried Chicken & Beer at Bonchon

Brace yourselves for KFC, and no, we don't mean the chicken mega-chain lorded over by the Colonel. Bonchon Chicken is set to debut Wednesday on Greenville Avenue near Lovers Lane (in the Old Town shopping center).

If you're not already acquainted with Korean fried chicken, this would be a good chance to get familiar: It's extra-crunchy and delicious, even after being doused in sauce (BonChon offers both a sweet soy-garlic and a spicy version). If such accolades matter to you, a writer for men's rag Esquire even went so far as to declare the wings from the Manhattan location "perfect, the best fried chicken [he's] ever had."

The South Korea-based chain has more than 20 locations in the U.S., but this location is the first in Texas; it's being marketed as a sports bar, boasting 11 televisions and 18 beers on tapgood beers, too, including plenty of locals such as Lakewood Temptress, Revolver Blood & Honey and Peticolas Velvet Hammer. It officially opens Wednesday, but BonChon is holding a soft opening today and tomorrow from 3 p.m. till 11 p.m. — if you decide to go check it out before the grand opening, don't act like the folks on Facebook pitching a fit about not being able to get a table. That's why it's called a soft opening.
