Sakhuu Gets Charitable; New O.C. Bookstore

EAST DALLAS—Mark your calendars: every Monday in March, Sakhuu, the pint-sized BYOB Thai spot on Bryan Street, will donate 100 percent of sales and tips to Kidd's Kids, a charity which sends chronically ill children to Disney World. Just call it tom kha for a cause. [Eaterwire]

MARDI GRAS WIRE—Fat Tuesday is tomorrow, and if you're not feeling inspired to whip up a batch of gumbo, Lauren Drewes Daniels has assembled a list of half a dozen places to eat jambalaya and muffalettas. (Pro tip: Beads are free, no need to flash.) [City of Ate]

OAK CLIFF—Coming soon to the Cliff is The Wild Detectives, which is not the newest Pixar movie but rather a bookstore that will feature "readings and lectures", "coffee, wine, beer, food and vinyl records" — that's the plan, anyway. The whole permitting and zoning thing is still underway; the investors plan to open "by late spring". [DMN/Oak Cliff Blog]
