The dynamic trio of Richard and Tiffanee Ellman (Oak) and John Paul Valverde (Campo, Outpost) debuted their new eclectic baby Belly & Trumpet on McKinney Avenue last Thursday. A well-edited selection of globally influenced small plates created by executive chef Brian Zenner (Oak) and sous chef Rudy Mendoza (formerly of The Mansion on Turtle Creek) composes the menu, while the stunning interior, decked out in rich shades of rose and violet and featuring sexy-yet-creepy black and white art by graphic designer Ruben Ireland, is virtually unrecognizable as its previous incarnation, the haute dog spot The Bowery.
