Wednesday brought the news that Bistro Watel's, the prix-fixe spot from chef Rene Peeters in a tiny Lakewood house (aka the former York Street spot), had closed its doors for good. This morning, Teresa Gubbins reports that Jeana Johnson and Colleen O'Hare, the dynamic duo behind East Dallas' Good 2 Go Taco, have taken over the space and "have already started renovations".
Johnson and O'Hare, of course, were manning the kitchen at Acme F&B when it first debuted on McKinney Avenue in May 2012, and critics heralded their adventurous use of offal and "lesser cuts" of meat; the glory didn't last long, though, as the two were bought out by their partners and departed the restaurant in October.
So what's the new project? No details are available as of yet, but Gubbins reports that it definitely won't be fine dining. (Or hot dogs, thank goodness.)
