Last month CultureMap broke the story that Jeana Johnson and Colleen O'Hare of Good 2 Go Taco fame (and formerly of Acme F&B) had taken over the small Lakewood restaurant space that was once occupied by Sharon Hage's beloved York Street — and more recently, Bistro Watel's, which shuttered back in February. Now more news surfaces on the concept moving into the space. It's called Mot Hai Ba, and Teresa Gubbins describes it as "a dark, sultry place serving trendy items like pho and banh mi sandwiches, plus dishes from North Vietnam [Johnson and O'Hare] hope will be entirely new."
The chef duo says the menu was heavily researched on a trip to Vietnam, which means they'll be adhering to some authentic traditions; for example, pho will only be served at lunch, because as Johnson says, "No one in Vietnam would eat pho at night."
First Tanoshi Ramen, then PakPao Thai, now this? Dallas' Asian food scene is about to get upgraded in a major way. According to CultureMap, the duo is hoping for an April opening.
