The Double Wide, the faux tornado-adorned Deep Ellum bar known for delightfully trashy cocktails like the Yoohoo Yeehaw, is now home to a late-night food stand. As Teresa Gubbins reports this morning, the aptly named Get Stuffed is housed in a vintage aluminum trailer that's permanently parked in the Double Wide's lot to feed hungry bargoers everything from Frito pie to fried bologna sandwiches. Ever-busy chef duo Jeana Johnson and Colleen O'Hare of Good 2 Go consulted on the menu, so expect slightly upscale twists — the bologna is from nearby Rudolph's Meat Market, and the bread sourced from local bread lords Empire Bakery.
Other reported menu items include a grilled cheese with tomato soup and an Elvis-inspired peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich; as CultureMap reports, "nothing costs more than $8", ensuring that bar patrons will have plenty of pocket change leftover for another Boone's Farm martini. Get Stuffed is open from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday nights.
