Chef Brian Luscher is a busy man. Besides running cozy Lower Greenville institution The Grape and his own handmade hot dog company, Post Oak Red Hots, he's also designed a menu for soon-to-open Taverna Rossa, "a rustic modern tavern infused with a contemporary vibe" that's coming to Plano this summer. According to Teresa Gubbins, the restaurant will debut in June "with an emphasis on beers and pizza"; backing the project is Preston Lancaster, the owner of McKinney's Cadillac Pizza Pub and multiple locations of Palio Pizza Cafe.
Taverna Rossa is currently under construction in the Lakeside Market shopping center near Preston Road and West Spring Creek Parkway; it's taking over the old Red's Patio Grill space between Mi Cocina and Mignon. Lancaster tells CultureMap that the pies will be cooked in a wood-fired deck oven, "almost like a Chicago thin crust"; besides pizzas, "the menu will include entrées such as roast chicken and New York strip steak, plus cocktails and 24 beers on tap."
