The Design District is becoming quite the beverage destination these days. Neighborhood pioneer Meddlesome Moth offers one of the finest beer selections in the Metroplex, the newly arrived Ascension Coffee makes a damn fine espresso (and latte, and French press, and...), and now comes Wine Poste.
Brought to you by a couple of serious oenophiles, this new spot serves many functions: Matthew Thompson, a sommelier/wine writer who handles marketing and communications for the new biz, says Wine Poste is basically "a retailer at heart", offering on-site and online retail sales (hence the "Poste" part), but they also intend to utilize their expansive and sleekly outfitted 3,000 square foot space to host private events like winemakers' series and chef-driven dinners. Wine lovers are also welcome to wander in to browse the collection and select a bottle to drink on the spot (though there won't be any by-the-glass offerings).
Thompson says Wine Poste intends to host a grand opening event in mid-May. Wine enthusiasts eager for a taste can check it out this Saturday night, when they'll host a public tasting from 6 to 10 p.m.
