Pecan Lodge Makes TxMo's Top 4 Barbecue Joints

It's official: Pecan Lodge is one of the top 4 barbecue joints in the state, according to Texas Monthly. (Why top 4 and not top 5? Rumor has it the fifth joint "had consistency problems and was dropped at the last minute.") Rounding out the rest of the top 4 (no big surprises here): Franklin Barbecue in Austin, Snow's in Lexington, and Louie Mueller in Taylor.

Yesterday the magazine revealed their updated list of the top 50 barbecue joints in Texas — a pretty big deal, as the list is only curated every five years, and this is the first one heralded over by new barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn. (Only 16 of the 50 places on the list were included on 2008's list, a clear indicator that the state's barbecue scene has undergone some major shake-ups since then.)

Major congrats to Pecan Lodge — we fully anticipate the long lunch lines to get even longer following the publication of this list in the June issue of Texas Monthly.
