Saint Ann now has a younger, Frenchier sibling residing right next door: Mercat Bistro opened its doors Saturday on the Downtown/Uptown border serving up classical bistro fare like charcuterie plates, foie gras terrine, croque madame, roast chicken, and hanger steak with frites. An adorably outfitted sidewalk patio with marble-top tables looks downright Parisian (if you can somehow ignore the fact that you're surrounded by Dallas high-rises).
Mercat is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; for nearby office workers in a hurry, there's a to-go lunch menu available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with items like a daily quiche, a "Parisienne" sandwich (French butter and ham on a baguette), and a farro and kale salad.
