Here's a closer look at Le Bilboquet, the Manhattan export now serving French bistro fare in the old L'Ancestral space at Travis Walk on Knox Street. (If you're keeping track, this is the second French restaurant to open in as many weeks, the other being Mercat.)
The interior is as unabashedly classic as the menu, sporting white tablecloths, plenty of fresh flowers and lots of natural light. The menu includes simple fare like mussels, halibut with caviar, creme brulee, and chocolate mousse, but despite all that, general manager Laurent LeSort tells CultureMap that their most popular dish (at least on New York's Upper East Side, where the original restaurant stood for nearly three decades) is actually Cajun blackened chicken, served in a white wine sauce with salad and frites.
