Dallas has a new Thai hot spot: Pakpao is brought to you by Apheleia Restaurant Group, the same folks behind neighbor Oak and McKinney Avenue small plates destination Belly & Trumpet. Chef Eddy Thretipthuangsin — try saying that five times fast — is dishing up standbys like pad thai and pad se ew along with some less-expected plates including sweet Thai pork jerky and curried soft-shell crab at reasonable prices in a stylish Design District location with plenty of ornate touches. Expect a dessert menu that goes beyond the usual mango and sticky rice with dishes like a steamed citrus cake with lemongrass anglaise and a Thai coffee mousse.
Pakpao is open Sunday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m.
